Breanna Dashistrom

Registered Music Therapist (RMT) and AMTA member

I'm Brianna, a creative, and proud collector of quirky trinkets (especially Tamagotchis!). Music has always been a huge part of my life. I sing, play guitar, write my own songs, and enjoy music production, and l've experienced firsthand how powerful music can be in supporting wellbeing and shaping identity. This is what led me to music therapy. As a neurodivergent person and someone that has lived with ill mental health, I draw on my own experiences to inform my work and deepen my understanding of the people I support.
Inclusivity is deeply important to me, and I'm passionate about providing neuro-affirming, strengths-based care. I aim to create a warm, safe, and inviting space where clients feel seen, supported, and free to be themselves. I take a person-centred and flexible approach, using creativity, humour, and compassion to make sessions engaging and meaningful. I love that there's no one-size-fits-all in music therapy, and I enjoy empowering people to live authentically, thrive and flourish, and develop greater self-acceptance. When I'm not working, you'll usually find me crocheting, playing cosy video games, reading, or spending time with my cat, Pippi, and my dog, Honey.
